“I am very pleased to be a Trustee of Umoyo and proud of what the charity has achieved.
The charity works directly with those that it supports, projects are jointly agreed, materials and labour are sourced locally so there is a real ownership and partnership.
Because of this direct approach project costs are kept to a minimum.“

“Those of us privileged to have visited Njebwa and worked alongside the villagers of all ages, sharing the charity’s projects; quickly appreciate the sincerity of their welcome and genuine gratitude for our support and the positive impact it is having on their lives. It is therefore no surprise to learn that Malawi has earned the reputation of being ‘The Warm Heart of Africa’. If circumstances permitted, I would return to Malawi in a ‘heartbeat’, but – now over 80 – I must content myself being a Senior Ambassador for UCP here in the UK.”

“As a school we have been involved with the Umoyo project since 2011 and I had the great pleasure of seeing the amazing work first hand when we visited them. I was humbled by the generosity and welcome we received by the amazing people of Njebwa and will continue to support them both personally and through the school to ensure that the children and adults have the future I wish for my own family. “

“I have been a committee member and Treasurer since 2008 and it is remarkable to see the amazing work that has been done by our small charity. In the intervening years we, together with our group of supporters, have been able to really make a tangible difference to the area in Northern Malawi that we focus on. I was privileged enough to be able to visit the school that we helped to improve and was humbled by the children and their teachers who are so appreciative of this opportunity. One of the other reasons that I really enjoy being a committee member is the focus, energy and drive that all members bring to the committee but especially its founder Sarah Mtonga. Under her sheer force of will, we have been able, as a very small charity, to do very big things and make a long lasting impact in the community. Long may it continue!!!”

“As the founder of Umoyo Community Project (UCP), I have seen the immense commitment of its supporters rewarded so greatly in the work undertaken in Njebwa. The local community there have been encouraged to be involved in all the projects, from beginning to end. This has made them feel valued and listened to in a way never experienced before which has enhanced their own commitment and engagement to the work we do there. Some of our supporters have visited Njebwa to see for themselves how their money is spent.
I am hopeful that, with the continued support of our donors, UCP will be able to further enhance, develop and help even more people become empowered to fulfil their potential.“

“Meeting Sarah and learning of the Omoyo Project was the beginning of a relationship that has lasted for many years. Our association has not only benefited the children and families in Malawi, but has had significant impact on the continued learning of the children here.
I personally have been blessed by the close friendship we have built. Having been fortunate enough to visit the village in Malawi with Sarah and meet the the residents of the village, I have seen first hand the incredible impact the Omoyo Project has had. This has given me a unique insight to the value of fundraising for an individual cause led by people who have a true understanding of the need. Long may this project continue to thrive.”
